Today I consider myself blessed to be a part of the celebration for 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji
There is no one in the nation who is not overwhelmed by the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, everyone has grateful feelings towards him
Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji sacrificed his life for the protection and cause of Hinduism
When Kashmiri Pandits spoke to Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji about atrocities committed on them, he sacrificed his life for the cause of Hinduism
Those who were beheaded are lost in history, but even after 400 years, crores of people bow to the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur
Today I unquestionably believe that due to the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji, that the country is progressing, cherishing freedom and celebrating its 75th Independence Day
We are all indebted to the great Sikh Gurus, the nation is indebted to the great Sikh Gurus
Not only India, but the world, even after 400 years, bows with respect, reverence and devotion, to their work, life and message.
Shri Narendra Modi has the fortune of being the Prime Minister, as it is during his tenure as the Prime Minister, that he has had the opportunity to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and 350th Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through the celebrations of these three Parkash Purabs, not only in India but around the world, has spread the message of sacrifice, equality, valour of the great Sikh Gurus
Today it is a matter of great fortune for all that at a time when this program is taking place, the nation is celebrating its 75th year of Independence
In the 75th year, being at the Red Fort grounds, we have listened to the voice of Guru Sahib, from where the fatwa was issued for the sacrifice of Guru Saheb
Guru Sahib’s life is exemplary for all of us and is an inspiration to the youth for ages
At the age of 13, in the historic circle of Kartarpur, with his Tegh meaning ‘Sword’ he fought courageously against the Mughals, after which the eighth Guru Sahib gave him the name Tegh Bahadur
He mastered many languages such as Sanskrit, Hindi, Gurumukhi and worked to spread the message of the Gurus in all languages throughout the country
He displayed the qualities of sacrifice, tolerance, dedication and knowledge before the country, and also founded the great Anandpur Sahib
He sacrificed himself for the cause of people, today even after 400 years, crores of people follow the path shown by him and remember his martyrdom
He made sacrifices for the country and it is in his holy house, ‘Dasham Pita’ was born and the way the ‘Dasham Pita’ faced the atrocities of Aurangzeb, sacrificed everything and sacrificed the four Sahabzadas, continuing the tradition of the father’s sacrifice
Tomorrow at the 400th Parkash Purab, the Prime Minister will also release a commemorative coin and a postage stamp, a translation of the book of poetry ‘Kavyanjali’ on the life of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as also a prose book on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur
A comic book for children will also be launched in English, Hindi and Punjabi, three animation films and thirteen short films will also be launched tomorrow
Later these shall be translated into all languages of the country, so that the nation and its children will receive inspiration from Guru Sahib’s message
An essay competition was organized by the Ministry of Education in which 18 lakh children from about 85 thousand schools wrote essays on the life of the Ninth guru, in which they described his qualities
When 18 lakh children write essays on Guru Tegh Bahadur ji in every corner of the country, these children also had the privilege of imbibing Guru ji’s message and his the virtues
The Union Minister for Home and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, today attended a function organized to commemorate the 400th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi today. Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and DoNER, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Ministers of State for Culture Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal and Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi and representatives of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and other prominent Sikh organizations were also present on the occasion.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that today I consider myself blessed to be involved in the celebration of the 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. There is no one in the nation who is not overwhelmed by the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, everyone has grateful feelings towards him. Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji sacrificed his life for the protection and cause of Hinduism. When Kashmiri Pandits spoke to Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji about atrocities committed on them, he sacrificed his life for the cause of Hinduism here at Chandni Chowk. Those who were beheaded are lost in history, but even after 400 years, crores of people bow to the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Even today the nation knows him by the nickname of ‘Hind ki Chadar’ and not only India but the whole world bows with reverence, devotion and respect to his works, life and message.

Shri Amit Shah said that on the occasion of 400th Parkash Purab, tomorrow the Prime Minister will also release a commemorative coin and a postage stamp, a translation of the book of poetry ‘Kavyanjali’ on the life of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as also a prose book on the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Simultaneously, A comic book for children will also be launched in English, Hindi and Punjabi, three animation films and thirteen short films will also be launched tomorrow, which will later be translated into all languages of the country, so that the nation and its children will receive inspiration from Guru Sahib’s message.
