GNLU SIPRI International Essay Competition- Disarmament Law (last date of submission: 23 November 2022)
Gujarat National Law University and Stockholm International Peace Research Institution are organizing an international essay competition on disarmament law.
Theme
Contemporary challenges in Disarmament and Non-proliferation.
Word limit: 2500 words excluding footnotes.
Eligibility
Age group: 17-25 years as of essay submission.
Open to all students of law and/or policy background within India.
Guidelines
- Only one entry per participant
- Previously unpublished work only
- No joint submissions
- Due to the zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, all sources must be cited.
- Visas for travel are not guaranteed, organizers will provide administrative support.
Suggested Topics
- The future of non-proliferation and/or disarmament through hard law and/or soft law
- Risks posed by rapidly advancing technologies (cyber space, outer space, artificial intelligence) in international humanitarian law.
- Prioritizing gender in arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation
Authors are invited to describe challenges from a legal standpoint and propose potential policy recommendations on a selected topic. Analysis from local, regional, and national perspectives on selected topics are encouraged.

Prize
1st prize: INR 10000
2nd prize: INR 7500
3rd prize: INR 5000
Winner (1st prize) will get a chance to attend an international event in Europe coordinated by SIPRI or the EU Non-proliferation and disarmament Consortium.
