VAMNICOM Organizes Youth Awareness Programme on Cooperative Education at ADT Baramati
Pune/Baramati, 8 July 2025
As part of the nationwide celebration of the Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation, the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, conducted a One-Day Youth Awareness Programme on Cooperative Education and Training in collaboration with the Agricultural Development Trust (ADT), Baramati. The event was hosted at Manthan Hall, Dr. Sharadchandra Pawar College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Baramati.
The programme aimed at sensitizing college and university students to the relevance of the cooperative model in India’s development landscape and to encourage their participation in cooperative-led growth initiatives. Over 715 students from agricultural, nursing, and arts and commerce streams actively participated in two dedicated sessions held during the day.
In his address, Prof. Shantanu Ghosh, Registrar of VAMNICOM, emphasized the foundational vision behind the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation and underlined its commitment to grassroots empowerment through cooperatives. He highlighted the role of youth in building resilient community-based institutions and contributing to India’s agenda of self-reliant and inclusive development.
VAMNICOM, under the aegis of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, is a national-level institution dedicated to the training, education, research, and consultancy needs of the cooperative sector. Over the decades, it has played a pivotal role in developing human resources for cooperatives across India and in South Asia, and continues to serve as a think-tank for cooperative policy and reform.
The Agricultural Development Trust (ADT), Baramati, has been instrumental in fostering agricultural education, rural development, and institutional capacity building. Its collaboration in the programme reinforced the shared vision of integrating academic knowledge with cooperative practice at the grassroots level.
The day-long awareness event featured thematic sessions on cooperative entrepreneurship, policy initiatives, and institutional opportunities for youth, followed by an interactive segment with students.
The event was part of the ongoing national campaign to promote cooperative consciousness among the younger generation and aligned with the objectives of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
