TRAI Assesses Network Quality Across Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway in the State of Andhra Pradesh (under Andhra Pradesh Licensed Service Area)
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for the Andhra PradeshLicensed Service Area (LSA), covering extensive routes of Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway in the month of September 2025. The drive tests conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Hyderabad, were designed to capture real-world mobile network performance across diverse usage environments- Urban Zones, Institutional Hotspots, rural residential areas etc.
Between 3rd September 2025 to 4th September 2025, TRAI teams conducted detailed tests for 695.7 Kms Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and 363.2 kms Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway drive test. Technologies evaluated included 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting the service experience of users across multiple handset capabilities. The findings of the IDT have been intimated to all the TSPs concerned.
Key Parameters Assessed:
a) Voice Services: Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (MOS), Coverage.
b) Data Services: Download/Upload Throughput, Latency, Jitter, Packet Drop Rate, and Video Streaming Delay.
The overall mobile network performance in Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway is summarized below:
Call Setup Success Rate – Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have 98.91%, 49.02%, 95.79% and 91.61% call setup success rate respectively in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).
Drop Call Rate – Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL drop call rate is 0.00%, 17.60%, 0.37% and 1.10% respectively in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G)

Data Download performance (Overall):Average download speed of Airtel (5G/4G/2G) is 106.60 Mbps, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) is 5.98 Mbps, RJIL (5G/4G) is 172.40 Mbps and VIL (5G/4G/2G) is 31.14 Mbps.
Data Upload performance (Overall): Average upload speed of Airtel (5G/4G/2G) is 15.10 Mbps, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) is 4.39 Mbps, RJIL (5G/4G) is 13.49 Mbps and VIL (5G/4G/2G) is 6.58 Mbps.
Latency (Overall):Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL 50thpercentile latency is 24.30ms, 25.10ms, 27.75ms, 35.90 ms.

Drop Call Rate: Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have drop call rate of0.00%, 17.60%, 0.37% and 1.10% respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).
Call Silence/Mute Rate: Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have silence call rate of 0.00%, 2.88%, 3.00% and 3.06% respectively in packet switched network (4G/5G).
Mean Opinion Score (MOS): Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have average MOS of3.93, 2.43, 3.82 and 3.85 respectively.

In Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail the assessment included the areas of Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail passing through Pagidipalli, Warangal, Khammam, Motumari, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Timmapuram and Samalkotetc.
In Visakhapatnam to VijayawadaHighway passing through kasimkota, Regupalem, Nakkapalli, Prathipadu, Rajanagaram, Dubacheria, Hanuman Junction, Gannavaram and Ramavarapadu etc.
The tests were conducted using TRAI suggested equipment and standardised protocols in real-time environments.
