STAFF EMPLOYED IN THE PMU

There are currently 39 PMUs working as part of the Programme Monitoring Unit (PMU) of Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. 15 PMUs are from 2021 Batch and 24 PMUs are from 2022 Batch. The eligibility criteria for selection for the PMU position is:

  1. Young professionals under the age of 28 years.
  2. Holding a graduate or post-graduate degree in social work from top 400 institutes (200 Colleges & 200 Universities) of country ranked by MHRD under NIRF 2021 ranking.

The induction training for 2022 batch of PMUs was conducted from 23rd June, 2022 to 30th June, 2022. The topics covered includes welfare scheme for SC/OBC, scholarship schemes, welfare of Safai karmacharis, Shreshtha Schemes, Schemes of National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) i.e. welfare of Senior Citizens, field visits.

They visited the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts/Outreach and Drop In Centres/Community based Peer Led Intervention/CCH(Continuous care Home) during the induction training at New Delhi and Ghaziabad, respectively.

As per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), PMU staff visits IRCA/ODIC/CPLI site. Their visit reports are countersigned by the concerned agencies/NGOs running these centres and PMU coordinators. After that, these reports are submitted to National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) for verification. Director, NISD also countersigns these reports and then submits them to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

This information was given by Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Sushri Pratima Bhoumik in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today.
