Prime Minister lays foundation stone of Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project in Banswara, Rajasthan on September 25, 2025.
The project is being implemented by the subsidiary of NPCIL, Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI), a Joint Venture of NPCIL and NTPC Ltd. This is the first nuclear power project in the country to be set up by a Joint Venture of two Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
The Mahi Banswara project comprises of four units of 700 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) indigenously developed by NPCIL, to be set up on twin unit basis in two phases viz. Mahi Banswara 1&2 (2X700 MW) and Mahi Banswara 3&4 (2X700 MW) at a total cost of Rs. 42,000 crore.
