PARLIAMENT QUESTION: INCLUSIVE MEASURES FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WITH DISABILITIES
The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, notified by the Government, contains important provisions for welfare of the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) which, inter-alia, include non-discrimination in employment, non-denial of promotion on the ground of disability, appropriate policies for posting and transfer of employees and barrier free & conducive environment etc. In pursuance thereof, instructions have been issued to all the Ministries/Departments for extending benefits and facilities to the PwD employees.
Further, provisions exist in RPwD Act, 2016 as well as Disaster Management Act, 2005 for protection and safety of PwDs in situations of risk, armed conflict, humanitarian emergencies and natural disaster etc. National Disaster Management Authority and State Disaster Management Authorities have also been mandated to ensure appropriate inclusions of PwDs in their disaster management activities.
The iGOT Karmayogi Platform has also been made user-friendly for Persons with Disabilities. The platforms offers an accessibility widget which caters to different types of disabilities such as blindness, dyslexia and colour blindness etc.
