NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated energy company, celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year and 51st Raising Day with great enthusiasm and pride at the Western Region–I Headquarters, Mumbai. The celebration marked 50 glorious years of NTPC’s dedicated service to the nation, symbolising its remarkable journey from a single-unit company in 1975 to becoming India’s largest power producer and a global energy leader.
The ceremony commenced with the flag hoisting of the NTPC flag by Shri E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West-I), followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet. In his address to the employees, family members, and associates, Shri Phani Kumar extended warm greetings on the occasion and reflected on NTPC’s legacy of powering India’s growth for over five decades. He emphasised that NTPC today has an installed capacity of 84,848 MW, with another 32,453 MW under construction, and is progressing towards achieving a long-term target of 244 GW by 2037 through expansion into renewable, hydro, nuclear, and green hydrogen sectors. He highlighted NTPC’s diversification into new energy frontiers, including flexible pumped storage projects and the development of India’s first large-scale green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka.
Shri Phani Kumar also mentioned NTPC’s contribution to the nation’s clean energy goals, along with its strong operational and financial performance, including a profit after tax of ₹9,428 crore in the first half of FY 2025–26. NTPC’s unwavering focus on innovation and transparency was further reflected through its e-procurement initiatives on the GeM portal worth ₹19,700 crore.
During his address, he proudly shared NTPC’s recent national and global recognitions, including its inclusion among TIME World’s Best Companies 2025, the Generation Company of the Year Award, the CII–ITC Sustainability Award for CSR Excellence, and multiple accolades in HR excellence such as Brandon Hall, ATD BEST, ET Human Capital Gold Award, and the UN Women WEPs Award for the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM).
Highlighting the performance of Western Region–I projects, Shri Phani Kumar commended the achievements of Solapur, Mouda, Anta, Kawas, Jhanor, and Ratnagiri (RGPPL) stations for their operational efficiency, sustainability efforts, and community development initiatives. He further emphasised NTPC WR-I’s deep commitment to social responsibility, mentioning 57 CSR projects worth over ₹81 crore being implemented across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Goa. These initiatives span healthcare, education, skill development, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability, all aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Shri Phani Kumar also highlighted the success of NTPC’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), which reached over 200 girls this year, and health and education programs including the establishment of 30 science laboratories and smart classrooms in government schools.
The event also acknowledged the remarkable efforts of the Corporate Communications Department, which bagged four prestigious awards at the 19th PRCI Global Communication Conclave, and successfully executed impactful campaigns such as NTPC branding at Mumbai’s Terminal 2 Airport and the State-Level Painting Competition under BEE, with participation from over 800 schools across Maharashtra.
Concluding his address, Shri Phani Kumar extended heartfelt gratitude to employees, their families, and partner agencies for their continued dedication and contribution to NTPC’s success. He urged everyone to reaffirm their commitment to the organisation’s core values of excellence, sustainability, and service to the nation, emphasising that NTPC’s mission is not only to generate electricity but also to empower India’s growth and light up every fourth bulb in the country.
The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting and balloon-release ceremony, followed by the distribution of awards to winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week quiz and essay competitions by Shri Phani Kumar and senior dignitaries — Shri Md. Ashfaq CEO (NGEL), Shri P. R. Jena, GM (Commercial); and Smt. Vandana Chaturvedi, Regional Head of HR (West-I).
