National Science Centre, Celebrates 11th International Day of Yoga 2025 with Demonstrations, Lectures and Creative Contests
The National Science Centre (NSC), Delhi, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Ministry of Culture celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with a vibrant lineup of interactive and educational activities at its premises. The celebration was held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighting the vital role of yoga in fostering holistic well-being and environmental harmony.
The event commenced with a Yoga Asana Practice Session at 7:00 AM, where participants performed traditional yoga postures guided by trained instructors. This was followed by an On-the-Spot Painting Competition at 9:00 AM, where students artistically interpreted the essence of yoga. A Popular Talk on “Yoga and Its Scientific Benefits” was held at 10:00 AM, providing attendees insights into how yoga contributes to physical health, mental wellness, and cognitive clarity. The session was followed by a Yoga Asana Competition at 10:30 AM, drawing enthusiastic participation from school and college students.
The Valedictory Function was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Sathya N. Dornala, Medical Superintendent, Swami Vivekananda Ayurvedic Panchakarma Hospital, as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Dornala emphasized the significance of yoga in today’s fast-paced world, underscoring its transformative impact on physical, mental, and environmental health.
As part of the celebration, the NSC also conducted creative contests such as essay writing and painting to engage young minds and encourage scientific thinking through self-expression. The activities were designed to deepen awareness about the scientific foundations of yoga and its relevance in modern life, especially among the youth.
In line with its mission to promote science education in innovative ways, the National Science Centre extended an open invitation to students, educators, yoga enthusiasts, wellness advocates, and the general public. The event drew large participation and highlighted yoga not merely as a physical discipline, but as a pathway to health, harmony, and sustainable living.
The event was open to all and free of charge, making yoga education both inclusive and accessible.
