EV CHARGING STATIONS INSTALLED ACROSS THE COUNTRY
As per the inputs received from Ministry of Power (MoP), 29,277 nos. of public EV charging stations (EVCS) have been installed in the country. State-wise break up of public EVCS is enclosed at Annexure. Details regarding average charge time at these facilities is not captured.
MoP has issued the ‘Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure – 2024’, in September 2024, and the ‘Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Battery Swapping and Charging Stations’, in January 2025, which, inter alia, lay down standards and protocols for developing a nationwide network of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, Battery Charging, and Battery Swapping Stations.
(An allocation of Rs.2,000 crore has been made under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme to support the “setting up of adequate public charging infrastructure for various categories of electric vehicles” on a pan-India basis in consultation with Ministries, States and other stakeholders as per Ministry of Power (MoP) “Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure-2024” on September 17, 2024.
