Employment to Tribals
Employment to Tribals
In Lok Sabha, the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey replying today to an un-starred question of Shri Murari Lal Meena and Adv Gowaal Kagada Padavi informed that under the schemes of Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM) and Pradhan Mantri JanjatiAdiwasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), the Ministry provides financial support to State Governments for setting up of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) which are clusters of tribal Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The tribal members associated with VDVKs are provided value addition training and forward market linkages thereby supporting their livelihood / self-employment activities. Besides, TRIFED undertakes backward and forward linkages for marketing of tribal produce / products through empanelment of tribal artisans as suppliers and procurement of products from them. TRIFED has empaneled 11 artisans/suppliers in Dausa district of Rajasthan, associated with 90 families. The state-wise details of VDVKs, including Rajasthan, are given at Annexure 1.
Additionally, National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, provides concessional loans to the eligible Scheduled Tribe persons for undertaking income generation activities/self-employment thereby instilling the spirit of entrepreneurship. The State-wise detail of beneficiaries assisted and loans disbursed to them in the last five years including Rajasthan is given at Annexure 2.
Under the PMJVM scheme, the Ministry has provided revolving funds amounting to Rs. 20.00 lakhs to the State Government of Rajasthan for procurement of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) at Minimum Support Price (MSP). So far, Rajasthan State has reported procurement of 377.51 MT of MFPs worth Rs. 251.88 lakhs.
