Celebration of Manak Mahotsav by Bureau of Indian Standards, Ahmedabad
Bureau of Indian Standards like every year celebrated Manak Mahotsav to commemorate World Standards Day 2025 to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of thousands of experts involved worldwide in the process of standardization.
As a part of the month-long celebrations of Manak Mahotsav, activities like Quality run/walk, consumer and jewelers awareness programs, standards carnival, stakeholders’ conclaves, standard club activities and RWA programs have been organized on the theme “Shared vision for a better world-Partnerships for the Goals”. These activities were aimed to increase awareness about various efforts made by BIS in the implementation of the SUSTAINABALE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations.
On the occasion of the World Standards Day i.e 14 October 2025, Bureau of Indian Standards Ahmedabad organized an Event on the theme “Shared Vision for a better World – Partnerships for the Goals” at Gandhinagar. More than 200 Participants representing various government officials, Industries, NGOs, jewellers, academia and students of Standards Club etc. attended the seminar.
Shri Ashok Sharma, IAS, PS to Governer of Gujarat, Shri Sudhanshu Jangir, CEO of Doctor Skill and Founding Director, Indian Institute of Sustainability(IIS), Shri S P Singh, Director General, Kaushalya- ”The Skill University”, and Shri P K Jha, Executive Director, NSIC and Shri Bhavesh Modi, Director & Scientist G, ICMR-NIOH graced the event as the main Guests of the event.
Shri Sumit Sengar, Director & Head welcomed all the dignitaries and the participants during the programme. He informed about the various activities done by BIS Ahmedabad during World Standards Day 2025 from 1st to 14th October 2025. He emphasized on the role of the standards and standardization in our life. He also informed that India is looking forward to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030 under the guidance of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. BIS has an important to play in achieving the goal of being a developed country at 2047.

Shri Sudhanshu Jangir, CEO of Doctor Skill and Founding Director, Indian Institute of Sustainability(IIS), Shri P.K. Jha, Executive Director, NSIC, Dr. S. P. Singh, Director General, Kaushalya “The Skill University”, Shri Ashok Sharma, IAS, PS to Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, Smt. Anindita Mehta, CEO, Consumer Education and Research Centre(CERC) and Shri Prateek Maheshwari, Professor at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade congratulated BIS for organizing the event and appreciated the role of BIS in strengthening the standardization and quality ecosystem of the country as the National Standards Body and its significant role in contributing towards the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
During the event, a felicitation ceremony for significant stakeholders of BIS was also carried out.
After a brief Q&A session, the session concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Vipin Bhaskar Joint Director, BIS, Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) witnessed a grand celebration of Manak Mahotsav on 13 October 2025, organized jointly by GTU and BIS Ahmedabad for BIS Student Chapters from various MOU institutions. The event featured impressive performances by students, showcasing their talent and creativity. The celebration was followed by a vibrant Swadeshi Gunvatta Yatra, where students promoted quality and self-reliance through Swadeshi products.
On 12 October 2025, a Quality Walkathon at Sabarmati River Front was organized, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, professionals, and citizens from various sectors. The event began with a mass Quality Pledge, reaffirming the collective commitment towards promoting quality culture in everyday life. Participants also enjoyed Zumba and patriotic performances, which added vibrancy and enthusiasm to the atmosphere. The Walkathon concluded with an awareness march, where participants carried messages and slogans emphasizing the importance of standards, product quality, and consumer safety in building a stronger and more self-reliant India.
On 11 October 2025, BIS Ahmedabad organized a Manak Mahotsav event at Anand, attended by over 100 participants representing various stakeholders segments. The programme featured a presidential address by Dr. J. B. Prajapati, Chairman, Indian Dairy Association (West Zone) emphasizing on the importance of standards and quality control in the development of the country, Technical sessions by faculty of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology(SVIT) and BIS officers, and felicitation of key stakeholders for their contributions to standardization and quality was also carried out.
Bureau of Indian Standards organized a conference with theme Swadeshi and Quality Excellence towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat on 10th Oct 2025 in partnership with Govt of Gujarat at Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference, Ganpat University, Mehsana. The conference was graced with the auspicious presence of Shri Balvant Singh Rajput, Honb’le Cabinet Minister of Industries, Civil Aviation, Rural Development, Labour and Employment in the Government of Gujarat, Shri Hari bhai Patel, Hon’ble MP, Mehsana, Ms. Rajul Gajjar, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Technological University as well as eminent personalities representing diverse stakeholders celebrating the true spirit of Swadeshi and Quality Excellence towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Another highlight of the event was the formal launch of the course introduced by GTU on Standardization and Quality Ecosystem by Shri Balvant Singh Rajput, Honb’le Cabinet Minister of Industries, Civil Aviation, Rural Development, Labour and Employment in the Government of Gujarat, Shri Hari bhai Patel, Hon’ble MP, Mehsana and Ms. Rajul Gajjar, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Technological University.
On October 10th, the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the North Gujarat region witnessed a unique initiative – Swadeshi Gunvatta Yatra organized by BIS Student Chapters. Over 1000 students from various academic institutions participated in this event, promoting the importance of Swadeshi products and quality.
The Yatra was flagged off by Shri Balvant Singh Rajput, Honb’le Cabinet Minister of Industries, Civil Aviation, Rural Development, Labour and Employment in the Government of Gujarat, Shri Hari bhai Patel, Hon’ble MP, Mehsana as well as Ms. Mamta Verma IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries and Mines Deptt., Govt of Gujarat.
