National Statistical Systems Training Academy, MoSPI to Celebrate 18th Foundation Day on 13th February 2026
The National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA), established on 13 February 2009 under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), will celebrate its 18th Foundation Day on 13 February 2026 at Greater Noida.
NSSTA is a Central Training Institute under Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation established for fostering human resource development in Official Statistics and related disciplines. NSSTA plays a key role in strengthening statistical capacity by providing high-quality training to the officers of the Central and State/UT Government, as well as repositioning itself internationally by conducting training for international participants. The occasion marks eighteen years of the Academy’s dedicated contribution to strengthening India’s statistical systems and promoting evidence-based governance through sustained capacity building.
Marking its Foundation Day, NSSTA will celebrate this year under the theme “Reimagining Capacity Building for Official Statistics to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047,” underscoring the critical role of strong, reliable, and future-ready statistical systems in India’s developmental journey. As the country advances toward becoming a developed nation by 2047, the focus has expanded beyond data collection to building institutional capacities, adopting cutting-edge technologies like AI/ML, big data analytics, Harmonization of data to make it AI ready and nurturing skilled human resources. As the nation’s premier training institute for official statistics and related disciplines, NSSTA continues to lead these efforts by equipping statistical professionals with modern methodologies and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. The celebration will bring together policymakers, experts, and practitioners to deliberate on reimagining capacity building to strengthening evidence-based governance and enhancing effective communications.
The Foundation Day ceremony will be graced by the presence of Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon’ble MOS (I/C), M/o S&PI, MOS (I/C), M/o Planning and MOS, M/o Culture, and other distinguished dignitaries, including Ms. S. Radha Chauhan, IAS, Chairperson, Capacity Building Commission (CBC); Dr. Saurabh Garg, IAS, Secretary, MoSPI; Mr. Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator in India, Director Generals and other senior officers. The high-level Plenary Session will provide key insights and further directions for strengthening capacity building and deeper collaborations with various stakeholders.
Following the plenary, the event will transition into a dynamic Panel Discussion on very important contemporary topic namely “Communicating statistics to the policymakers and public” by the eminent personalities.
The event is expected to bring together over 350 participants, including senior officers of Centre and State Government, policymakers, statistical practitioners, academicians, and representatives from national and international organizations. Beyond commemorating its foundation, the occasion serves as a platform to reflect on NSSTA’s journey and to chart the way forward in strengthening India’s statistical capacity to face emerging challenges.
