UPSKILLING INDIA’S GIG WORKFORCE/ DELIVERY PARTNERS
Under the Government of India’s Skill India Mission (SIM) , the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) delivers skill, re-skill and up-skill training through an extensive network of skill development centres under various schemes, viz. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Sikhshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), to all the sections of the society across the country. The SIM aims at enabling youth of India to get future ready, equipped with industry relevant skills.
To enhance skill development opportunities for workforce engaged across sectors, MSDE has entered into partnerships with various industry partners including the food/grocery delivery platforms. MSDE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy and launched ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative, offering a range of skilling and employment opportunities within Swiggy’s food delivery and quick commerce network. MSDE has also signed an MoU with Flipkart’s Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA). Under PMKVY 4.0, this partnership aims to up-skill the youths across India, enhancing their employability in the e-commerce and supply chain sectors. In this regard, Flipkart Internet Pvt Ltd has also been recognised as an Awarding Body (AB) by National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).
To align skill development programs with the industrial requirements and thereby improving the employability of the skilled manpower, DGT under the aegis of MSDE has signed MoU with various companies like IBM, CISCO, Microsoft, AWS etc. to ensure industry linkages for the institutes at the state and regional levels. DGT is also implementing Flexi MoU Scheme and Dual System of Training (DST) which are meant to provide training to ITI students in industrial environment as per their requirements.These partnerships facilitate the provision of technical and professional skills training in modern technologies.
