Open House Conducted by Regional Passport Office, Pune to Address Public Grievances

  1. The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Pune organized an Open House on 12 November 2025 at its office premises in Baner, Pune, with the objective of addressing grievances of passport applicants and facilitating direct interaction between citizens and passport authorities.
  2. The Open House serves as an important platform for applicants to voice their concerns, seek clarifications, and receive prompt redressal on matters related to passport services.
  3. During the session, applicants participated and raised various issues pertaining to police verification delays, document clarification for reissue cases, date of birth change cases, and online appointment scheduling, etc. The Regional Passport Officer, along with senior officials, interacted with the applicants and ensured that most of the issues were resolved on the spot. Pending matters related to police verification were escalated to the concerned police liaison units for expedited action.
  4. During October 2025, the Regional Passport Office, Pune received a total of 46,960 passport applications, including 7,316 Tatkaal and 39,644 Normal applications. A total of 42,883 passports were issued, achieving a passport issuance rate of 92%. The average processing time for Tatkaal applications was 2 days, whereas Normal applications were issued in an average of 16 days. Additionally, 976 Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs) and 94 Global Entry Program (GEP) applications were processed during the month.
  5. As part of citizen outreach, RPO Pune also deployed the Mobile Passport Van under the initiative ‘Passport at Your Doorstep’ at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Symbiosis International University, and the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) in October 2025. This initiative enabled students and faculty members to conveniently apply for passports within their campus premises, reflecting RPO Pune’s commitment to accessibility and citizen-centric service delivery.
  6. To further streamline grievance redressal, the RPO is strengthening the feedback mechanism at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), Pune, and all Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) under its jurisdiction. Regular monitoring of complaints received through CPGRAMS, the Public Grievance Portal, and social media platforms (Twitter/X) is being carried out to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  7. Updated document checklists have also been displayed at all PSKs/POPSKs and the RPO notice boards to facilitate applicants and minimize procedural delays.
  8. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vinod Gaikwad, IFS, Regional Passport Officer, Pune, emphasized the importance of transparency, accessibility, and proactive engagement with citizens to enhance service delivery. He stated that such interactions strengthen public trust and improve the overall efficiency of the passport issuance process.
  9. The Open House initiative has led to improved citizen satisfaction, reduction in pendencies, and enhanced coordination between RPO and police authorities. The Regional Passport Office, Pune will hold the next Open House on 10th December 2025 to further reinforce its commitment to citizen-centric governance and transparent service delivery.
