Implementation of Swachhta Udyami Yojana

National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) has been implementing Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) with twin objective of cleanliness and providing sustainable livelihood to Safai Karamcharis and liberated Manual Scavengers.
Financial assistance is provided to the target group for procurement of sanitation related equipments/ vehicles under SUY through the Channelizing Agencies of NSKFDC. Further, NSKFDC is also providing financial assistance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) for procurement of sanitation related equipments/vehicles under SUY.
The progress under SUY scheme during the last three years and current year is as under:-
A) NSKFDC is providing financial assistance (loan) to the target group through its channelizing agencies. NSKFDC has released financial assistance of Rs 6342.68 lakh under Swachhta Udyami Yojana (SUY) for extending the benefits of the scheme to 1688 beneficiaries from the target group of NSKFDC during the last three years from 2019-2020 to 2021-2022.

B) NSKFDC is also providing direct assistance to ULB’s for purchase of sanitation related equipment. NSKFDC has disbursed funds of Rs.4017.43 lakh to 29 ULBs in various States for procurement of 296 units of sanitation related equipments/vehicles under its SUY.

C) In addition, NSKFDC has also released capital subsidy of Rs.1688.17 lakh under Self Employment for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers (SRMS) for procurement of 200 units of sanitation related equipment/vehicles by 464 beneficiaries. This component was introduced in the scheme in the year 2020-21 only.
