Ministry of Heavy Industries successfully observes Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from 16th to 31st August 2025
The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwada from 16th to 31st August 2025, as part of the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission. The mission promotes cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainability across the nation. The two-week campaign followed the Calendar of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 issued by the Government of India. This activity showed MHI’s commitment to make cleanliness a shared duty and create a sustainable work environment.
The observance started with a pledge-taking ceremony on cleanliness by the officers and officials of MHI on 18th August 2025. Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, MHI administered the pledge to all the officers/officials of the Ministry.

Throughout the fortnight, various activities were carried out to promote cleanliness and sustainability within the Ministry premises, including:
Maintaining Cleanliness at the corridors of the Ministry
Maintaining Cleanliness inside the premises of the Udyog Bhawan On 29th August, 2025, as a part of the Swachhata Pakhwada, Shri Vijay Mittal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, felicitated the workers of the Ministry by presenting them with gifts items in recognition of their unwavering service and outstanding commitment in keeping Ministry’s premises clean.

As part of Swachhata Pakhwada (16th–31st August, 2025), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a CPSE under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, organized multiple initiatives across its units to promote cleanliness and sustainability. Awareness banners were displayed, and pledge-taking ceremonies were conducted by Executive Directors at BHEL’s Ranipet, Tiruchy, Hyderabad, Bhopal, and Delhi units on 18th August, 2025. Cleanliness drives were carried out at various facilities, including the DTG premises in Tiruchy and stores in Ranipet, alongside road cleaning in Hyderabad and Bhopal. These efforts underscore BHEL’s commitment to a cleaner, greener, and sustainable India, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Other Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries also actively participated in Swachhata Pakhwada from 16th to 31st August, 2025. Instrumentation Limited organized an awareness programme on Swachhata for teachers and children of IL Nursery School, who also took part in a cleanliness drive in front of the school and its premises. NEPA Limited conducted a cleanliness drive by the Paper Machine crew in the Dryer Section basement and the Paper Machine back-side area, highlighting focus on workplace hygiene. Cement Corporation of India organized a plantation drive at its Bokajan unit, with employees and community members participating.
