SARAS Mela at NOIDA Haat surpassed all previous records by crossing Rs 14 Crore in Sales

The 4th edition of hugely popular SARAS Mela at the NOIDA Haat came to an end on Monday breaking previous records with surpassing the figure of Rs 14crore in sales.  Speaking at the closing ceremony, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development Ms. Swati Sharma congratulated the SHG women on this achievement. Ms. Swati Sharma said that the Union Rural Development & Panchayatiraj Minister feels confident that the day is not far when there will be a significant contribution of Lakhpati Didis of SHGs in the 5 trillion economy of Bharat.

Ms. Swati Sharma added that Secretary, MoRD, Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh has in his congratulatory message conveyed that the SHG Didis are scripting a new success story of women empowerment in the Amrit Kaal which is reflected so well in the success of SARAS Mela at NOIDA Haat.

Ms. Swati Sharma added that Additional Secretary, MoRD, Shri Charanjit Singh has conveyed his compliments and his message is “The SHG Didis of DAY-NRLM are showcasing their talents everywhere and the whole country is proud of them. The visitors at SARAS Haat NOIDA have admired the glimpses of mini India that the SARAS Mela at NOIDA offered to the visitors”.

In her address, Ms. Swati Sharma said that the Didis of DAY-NRLM Self Help Groups are strengthening not only themselves, but their communities and villages as well. The Lakhpati Didis are going to transform economy of the Grameen Bharat in the Amrit Kaal. They are writing a new story of self-dependence.

Speaking on the occasion, DM, Gautam Buddha Nagar Shri Manish Kumar Verma said that the NOIDA administration is proud to support the SARAS Mela in NOIDA and they would continue to publicize success stories of the Didis.

In her address, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development Ms. Nivedita Prasad said that the SARAS Mela is a much-appreciated platform to showcase and boost diverse livelihoods activities of rural women. Ms. Prasad thanked NIRDPR and NOIDA administration for joining hands to organize such a popular Mela. 

Awards were also given to the SHG Didis for their outstanding performance at the NOIDA Haat SARAS Mela. The NOIDA SARAS Fair was organized from 16thFebruray to 04thMarch and over 400 SHG Didis participated in the fair. More than 85 cultural festivals were also organised  showcasing true colors and diversity of Grameen Bharat.
