Union Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan briefs media on Ministry’s achievements

Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today informed the media about the achievements of the Ministry of Rural Development. Shri Chouhan said that giving complete justice to half of the population and empowering women is our primary goal. Union Minister Shri Chouhan stated that this year, the ministry’s budget was Rs. 1 lakh 84 thousand crores, of which Rs. 1 lakh 3 thousand crores have been spent. We are working day and night to fulfill the Prime Minister’s resolution by connecting rural communities with employment opportunities and essential facilities. While answering media queries, Shri Chauhan stated that if any state identifies shortcomings in MNREGA and PM Awas Yojana, action will be taken, reaffirming the government’s commitment. He emphasized that schemes like MNREGA are demand-based, and if the allocated budget falls short, additional funds are sought from the Finance Ministry based on state demands, with continuous revisions made accordingly.

Expansion of Community Managed Training Centers (CMTCs):

Key Points of Progress under DAY-NRLM:

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) aims to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by guaranteeing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to work.

Introduction
The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) launched the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY) under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission on September 25, 2014. The program aims to establish a benchmark for skill development programs based on wage employment, with the goal of meeting global standards.

Key Features

Special focus on rural youth from poor families aged 15 to 35 years: (a) MGNREGA worker families, if any family member has completed 15 days of work. (b) RSBY families.(c) Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card families.(d) BPL PDS card families.(e) NRLM-SHG families. (f) Participation process for identifying the poor.(g) Families falling under the auto-inclusion criteria of SECC 2011.

Mandatory coverage of socially disadvantaged groups, i.e., SC/ST (50%), minorities (15%), and women (33%), with special attention to manual scavengers, persons with disabilities, and female-headed households.
