Digitalisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS)
The details on status of digitalization in Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) as of 31st March, 2024, State-wise are enclosed as Annexure-I.
The State-wise status on number of PACS acting as Common Service Centres (CSC) as on 21.11.2024 is attached as Annexure-II.
In order to strengthen PACS, project for Computerization of functional PACS with a total financial outlay of ₹2,516 Crore has been approved by the Government of India, which entails bringing all functional PACS in the Country onto a common ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) based national software, linking them with NABARD through StCBs and DCCBs. Out of the total budget of Rs. 2,516 crore for the project, the shares of Government of India (GoI), State Governments and NABARD are Rs. 1528 crore, Rs. 736 crore and Rs. 252 crore, respectively.
PACS have been enabled to function as Common Service Centres (CSCs), delivering more than 300 e-services to rural citizens, including banking, insurance, Aadhaar enrolment/updation, health services, legal services, etc. This initiative provides PACS with additional and stable sources of income, enhancing their economic viability and reducing dependency solely on credit activities. Moreover, by enabling PACS to diversify their services, this initiative paves way for expanding their market size and catering to a broader spectrum of rural needs, improving their role as comprehensive service providers at the village level.
