Speaking about the upgradation of the National Career Service portal, Dr. Mandaviya stated, “We are in the process of upgrading the NCS portal. The enhanced platform will offer a more user-friendly interface for job seekers, employers, and stakeholders, utilizing advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence.'”
Union Minister Sushri Karandlaje said, “The National Career Service portal – a dynamic bridge, having India’s diverse talent pool with opportunities across sectors, when connected with an ecosystem like Amazon will foster skill development, and empower individuals, promote economic growth and job creation. Integration with a centralised platform like NCS will reduce hiring costs and time and streamline hiring of verified professionals. It is a way forward for economic inclusion.”
Salient Points of the MoU
The MoU is initially set for a period of two years. Under this agreement, Amazon and its third-party staffing agencies involved in hiring for Amazon will regularly post job vacancies on the NCS portal and conduct hiring through it. The collaboration also involves organizing job fairs at Model Career Centres (MCCs), where job seekers will have the opportunity to interact directly with Amazon’s recruitment teams.
A key aspect of the MoU is its focus on inclusivity. The partnership prioritizes promoting employment opportunities for women and divyang candidates, ensuring equal access to jobs. This joint initiative aims to create a more inclusive workforce by empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Benefits to Job Seekers on the NCS Portal
Job seekers using the NCS portal will gain access to a wider range of opportunities, particularly from Amazon, one of the largest global e-commerce companies. The MoU facilitates local hiring in fields such as logistics, technology, and customer service, providing not only jobs but also career advancement opportunities by working with a prestigious brand. This collaboration ensures that job seekers from various parts of India can connect with a wide variety of employment roles and secure a brighter future.
Benefits to Amazon
Through this collaboration, Amazon and its third-party staffing agencies will tap into a diverse talent pool from the NCS portal, including women and persons with disabilities. Ministry will support this by enabling database integration, providing Amazon with seamless access to candidates through an efficient technology interface. In addition, the Ministry will assist Amazon in conducting job fairs across the country, ensuring structured interactions with prospective employees. This will enable Amazon to meet its staffing needs while promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce.
NCS Portal: A Game Changer in Employment Services
The National Career Service (NCS) portal, operational since July 2015, has been a transformative platform in the employment landscape. Managed by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, it provides a wide range of services, including job search, career counselling, vocational guidance, and skill development resources. The portal serves millions of users, including job seekers, employers, and educational institutions.
This year, the NCS portal crossed the milestone of 2 million active vacancies on a single day, with on an average 15–18 lakh job opportunities listed on the portal. Currently, the platform boasts over 60 lakh active job seekers and 33.50 lakh active employers, making it a vital tool in bridging the gap between talent and opportunities.
Integrated with 28 States/UTs employment portals and several private job portals, the NCS portal continues to enrich its database and connect job seekers with the right roles. Its contribution to employment accessibility and career growth has made it a critical resource for India’s workforce.
