Department of Financial Services (DFS) launches Swachhata Hi Seva -2024 for promoting a sense of commitment towards cleanliness and sanitation

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, today launched the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in New Delhi.

Shri Nagaraju Maddirala, Secretary (DFS) administered Swachhta Pledge to heads of PSBs, PSICs, PSFIs, RRBs and senior officers of DFS and its attached offices during a VC meeting. All nodal officers of the financial institutions and SLBC/ UTLBC convenors also participated in the launch programme. 

The campaign is part of the ongoing programmes of Swachh Bharat Mission, initiated in 2014, as the campaign for behavioural change towards cleanliness in this country. Swabhav Swachhta Sanskar Swachhata is the theme for this year. 

The commitment to the campaign goals and the intent to make the campaign wider and deeper were emphasised by taking pledge. 120 organisations of DFS and more than 86,000 branches of financial institutions are expected to participate in the campaign.

Transformation of black spots (unattended garbage dump areas), plantation drive (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam), identification and cleanliness of CTUs, Nukkad Natak, outreach programmes for enrolling the Safai Mitras to Government schemes, exhibition on swachhata themes in each office/branch are among the events that have been planned between 17th Sept. to 2nd Oct. 2024 across the country by the financial institutions. Events will be geographically mapped in the dedicated Swachhta Hi Seva portal so that common citizens also can join the programmes near to them.

To spread awareness on ways to keep the premises clean, DFS has requested all organisations to set up exhibition on themes of segregation of waste at source, recycling techniques and on composting in more than 86,000 branches. Further, NABARD and RRBs have been requested to organise Nukkad Natak across the country on the themes of swachhata and financial literacy.

To give wide impact to the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, all branches have been requested to organise plantation drive and to set up outreach programmes for enrolment of Safai Mitras to government schemes.

Lead District Managers at all districts have been requested to identify and map black spots and to transform them in a timely manner during the campaign period along with other listed events in their respective districts. It has been planned to transform at least 5 black spots in each of the districts with the efforts of bankers, volunteers and common citizens in each of the districts.

More than 6200 events have already been created on the SHS Portal by the field functionaries of PSBs, PSICs and Other Public Sector Financial Institutions. These events can be classified into 40 listed categories of  events, covering 36 states and union territories of the country.
