Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches Krishi Nivesh Portal & AgriSure Fund and distributes AIF Excellence Awards
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched an integrated Agri investment Portal named KrishiNivesh at Pusa, New Delhi. Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Shri Ramnath Thakur and Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Devesh Chaturvedi were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the significance of the Krishi Nivesh Portal, which is expected to transform the agricultural landscape by centralizing investment opportunities and information. He said that this portal is a comprehensive platform designed to enhance agribusinesses, attract investments, and improve farmers’ income. It aligns with our vision of modernizing agriculture through technological advancements and innovative practices.
Shri Chouhan emphasized that the portal will cater to diverse stakeholders, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and industries, by providing easy access to information regarding various Central and State Government schemes. He further added Krishi Nivesh aims to create a thriving ecosystem for agribusinesses, promoting sustainable growth and development in the agricultural sector.
Shri Chouhan stated that the portal addresses longstanding challenges in the agriculture sector, such as fragmented information, siloed operations across departments, and slow progress in loan disbursement and scheme applications. The Krishi Nivesh Portal is designed to streamline the investment process, making it more transparent and efficient. Investors can now easily access detailed information on various government schemes and track the status of their applications.
The Union Minister also highlighted the portal’s potential to catalyse a new era of growth in India’s agriculture and allied sectors by promoting collaboration, driving innovation, and ensuring sustainable development. He also said, by bridging the information gap and facilitating seamless coordination between different departments, the Krishi Nivesh Portal will boost agri-investments and empower stakeholders to make informed decisions.
Along with the launch of KrishiNivesh portal, Shri Chouhan presented AIF Excellence Awards to the top-performing Banks and States under various categories in recognition and appreciation of their efforts. While congratulating the top performers, Minister emphasized that the Award Ceremony will serve to motivate the best performing banks and also inspire other Banks to enhance their performance, thereby contributing to the overall success of the AIF scheme. Representatives from various States and Banks were present in the Award Ceremony.
Shri Devesh Chaturvedi highlighted that KrishiNivesh Portal is part of the Government of India’s broader efforts to modernize agriculture and support farmers. It aligns with the Digital Mission on Agriculture and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, which aim to leverage technology and reforms to strengthen the agriculture and allied sectors. The portal will feature a user-friendly interface, real-time assistance through chatbot, and interactive dashboards for data-driven decision-making.
While giving an overview on KrishiNivesh portal, Joint Secretary, DA&FW Shri Samuel Praveen Kumar highlightedthe Ministry’s ongoing journey till date in development of the KrishiNivesh Portal under Phase-1 wherein 11 schemes have been covered including flagship schemes like Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), etc. He stated that KrishiNivesh Portal is poised to become an indispensable tool for fostering innovation and prosperity in India’s agriculture sector, driving sustainable growth and development.
Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) scheme was launched in 2020 for creation of Post-harvest Management infrastructure and Community farming assets. Special campaigns are conducted to promote AIF scheme and in recognition of the efforts of various Banks and States in successfully implementing AIF scheme, Excellence awards are presented to them for fostering collective achievements, promoting excellence and inspiring future performance under AIF.
Amongst Public Sector banks, State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of baroda, Indian bank and Punjab National bank received awards while HDFC bank received award as best performing Private sector bank. In the Regional Rural banks category, Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya grameen bank, Punjab Grameen bank, Baroda UP grameen bank, Maharashtra Grameen bank and Sarva Haryana Grameen Bank were recipients of awards for best performance. Amongst best performing states, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, UP, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Telangana states received awards for their performance under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund.
