1. The Petitioner had applied to the Directorate of Education (DoE) through his guardian for admission as an EWS/DG/Freeship category candidate in entry level class for the academic session 2023-2024. Consequent on a computerized draw of lots conducted by the DoE, the petitioner’s name was shortlisted for admission to KG/Pre-Primary class in the respondent School. As the respondent School demurred from granting admission to the petitioner, the Petitioner has approached this Court by means of the present writ petition.
2. Unfortunately, academic session 2023-2024 has come to an end. For the academic session 2024-2025, the petitioner would have to compete with other aspirants for admission as an EWS/DG/Freeship category candidates. There are several similar matters which have come before this Bench, in which the same view has been taken.
3. Reserving liberty with the petitioner to apply as an EWS/DG/Freeship category candidate for admission in the academic session 2024-2025 with a request to the DoE, if possible, to ensure that petitioner gets admission in an appropriate class, needless to say, in accordance with the procedure stipulated in that regard, the writ petition is disposed of.
