JUDGMENT
MANMOHAN, ACJ: (ORAL)

Present public interest litigation has been filed seeking directions to the respondents to hand over possession of the six newly constructed school buildings to the Delhi Government Schools being GGSS Mukund Pur, GBSS Bakhtawarpur, S V Lancer Road, GGSSS Rani Bagh, S V Co-Ed, Sector 7 Rohini and MS Punjab Khore.

Mr.Tripathi, learned counsel for GNCTD/Directorate of Education (‘DoE’) has handed over a status report dated 7th May, 2024. In the said status report, it has been stated that two schools, namely, GGSSS Rani Bagh

and SV Co-Ed., Sector-7, Rohini are already functional in the new buildings.

He further states that the Government Co-Ed. MS Punjab Khore school is almost complete. He states that civil and electricity defects pointed out are in the process of being repaired/rectified. He assures and undertakes to this Court that when this school re-opens after the summer vacation, the new building will be ready to accommodate the students.

Mr.Tripathi, learned counsel for the GNCTD/DoE on instructions also states that GBSSS Bakhtawarpur and GGSS Mukundpur schools shall be functional on or before 1st August, 2024. He states that the Department of Education has taken approval from the Election Commission of India and concurrence from the Finance Department to complete the said two projects on schedule.

He assures this Court that SV Lancer Road School shall be completed on or before 1st October, 2024.

The statements/undertakings/assurances given by Mr.Tripathi, learned counsel for the GNCTD/DoE on instructions of the Directorate of Education, who is present in Court, are accepted by this Court and GNCTD/DoE is held bound by the same.

7.
Recording the aforesaid statements/undertakings/assurances, the present writ petition is closed. List the matter for compliance on 8th October, 2024.
